Y’all be talking queer baiting at subtext meanwhile I’m here suffering femdom baiting or shows with women are respected baiting. This is why I struggle with modern anime and live action shows and have trust issues I get promised gender inversions and basic decency flavors then get slapped. This is why I should always stick to my shoujo manga instead
I’m starting Darling in the Franxx and I admit the only reason I picked it up aside from the pretty and polished style is cuz I have heard/saw clips of some gender inverted tropes between the two main characters. Lots of femdom art too. Good stuff. The first episode has an old man groping a young lady which is, fine whatever normal anime stuff and I expect lots of fan-service cuz modern anime and especially mecha anime, but can anyone that watched confirm gender inversions in the main duo? I want to know if it’s gonna be worth it. It doesn’t need to be feminist, just refreshing and has women as characters

darling in the franxx is worth your time I can assure you of that. the relationship between the male and female lead is one of the most compelling parts of the show and the best romance I’ve seen in a while. especially good if you’re looking for gender inversions yes.

I know it’s hated among dudebro mecha fans and that also got me interested cuz when dudebros hate it I know I’m more than likely going to enjoy it haha.
