eghfeithrean:

Everyone evacuating the Castleship really got me good, but Coran’s scenes hit me the hardest. Coran has been near single-handedly maintaining this entire ship by himself since season 1.

He’s not a paladin, he can’t create wormholes, but he gets the ship up and running whenever it fails, he works his ass off. He keeps it clean, he makes repairs. He does his best to keep things in order so the others can focus on the fight, and he joins it when he needs to.

And then the emotional connection as well, as it’s the pride of his family and one of the last connections Coran has to them. I’m so happy with all the Coran-centric scenes they included, especially this one. He’s a support character, but damn if anything would get done without him there.

Haggar is worthy of Oriande, as she herself is a life giver.

We have been shown that since the very first season. She revives dead beings in the form of her robeasts, they literally come out of coffins, showing their new form of life. She has literally brought back Zarkon and Shiro to life. She revived Naxela. She has created half of the Galra empire and discovered new forms of quintessence.

The sages of Oriande are made up of ancient Altean women with long hair, long dresses, and bare feet. Haggar has been the main source of mysticism throughout the show, more-so than even Allura, who herself did not reach her peak magical abilities till she fought Haggar.

VLD has told us from season 1 that Allura is worthy of entering Oriande, and she is told that the secrets of life are already within her. We have seen that already

Allura is an oracle of Oriande, she has given life to a once dead planet. But we have also seen this with someone else, multiple times, but one moment in particular mirrors the revival of the Balmera. The revival of Naxela.

The exact same ritual. Haggar is a dark life giver and has been shown to be just that from the start.

After this post got me vagued so much it feels nice to have it confirmed, and without my she’s going to corrupt it additions. She just walked in and out, and was healed from the rift affect, she even had her voice back! But now we know that this is not the reason, the reason is alchemic knowledge. Lotor took so many lives yet he was allowed to enter, so of course Haggar is more than worthy to enter, her knowledge is massive. I’m glad I was wrong about the corruption aspect, as well as the reason, because what we got is much more interesting.

I’m currently busy with Eid hectic events right now but I did share some thoughts on twitter loosely. I will say one thing tho. The reason why captain vultures and I did privately speculate that Lotor might be having a villainous breakdown and never speak up about it was out of dread from fandom. I can finally admit that it felt hostile to ever point out certain things about Lotor, so we kept quiet in public out of dreading a witch hunt and 50 vague posts about us.

I will say one thing tho. After season 4 I stopped listening to word of god and started to examine the show on its own. Idk if anyone noticed but I really don’t reblog many quotes from interviews here after season 4. And what I pointed out about Lotor in season 4 -seeming less sympathetic than his parents and disliking how he was hyped up to be different from them when he’s just the same- did earn me lots of shade.

What I’m saying is, the fandom experience and meta on here did contribute greatly to the utter shock of this revelation. It’s the same I felt when Narti was killed, because I spent months in fandom contributing to team Sincline. So involving in lots of meta about Lotor and his angles and why he is not like his parents sadly did build up lots of expectations. I was personally shocked by the horrific things he did but the fact that he did hide something horrible wasn’t a surprise for me, nor was his breakdown. So while I did personally enjoy his breakdown I understand why specifically it’s tumblr fans that are most hurt about it. But I do ask that those of us who finally started to enjoy Lotor as a legitimate villain be left alone. We respect your feelings, please be respectful to us.

I highly advise the heartbroken fans to do something I didn’t do during season 4, which is take a break from fandom. Because seeing hostile opinions from any side of this divide only hurts more, I know for sure I was made more and more angry when I saw posts going Lotor is just a scared kid anyone that thinks otherwise is a boring idiot and Narti wasn’t even an important character etc. Take a break, take time to heal. And when ready, watch the season again to examine exactly what you had trouble with and to finally be able to vent a good healthy dose.
