The She-Ra thing I really want to talk about tho is how certain fans have hyped it up with “it’ll teach voltron a lesson” and i noticed that the trend these days is praising tokenism as the best type of rep. I mean, I kinda get it cuz these people’s only personality trait is their queerness, which is part of one’s identity, but shouldn’t be the sole interesting thing about you, cuz take that away and what else is there. Depictions of characters as people first and then revealing their queerness later on is now punished, look at Shiro for prime example, and a slight hint of that in how people regard Runaan when they were watching the show and going where is the rep where is the rep etc. 

She-Ra is clearly going to be a fun magical girl show with maybe some hints of darkness down the line, but people from all sides are building different types of hype. There’s the purity crusade building it up as the most amazing representation purity haven ever -which will get them majorly aggressive when they see the thing in my last post and showing villains as the most interesting part of the show- and people who are against it cuz of horrible behavior from smug snake hotshot stroyboarders and artists and who latched on to the show, and dudebros that are mad SheRa isn’t here to teach little girls how to be attractive to men. All factors dooming the show, as well as the bizarre choice of day cuz Friday drops are the best for binge watching especially for younger viewers. 

On one hand this feels like karma to those that acted out, but those above like Stevenson and those that are there in good faith without a weird jealously issue towards voltron -my guess is that it’s the A project where all the pros went to and got the best treatment from dreamworks- so I will be giving it a chance because it does appeal to me, especially now knowing how the villains are the best part.
