I’ve always concerned Macross to be “What if the Space Battleship Yamato could transform into a giant robot and had a fleet of transforming jet-robots?” So this doesn’t surprise me 🙂

I’m a little surprised that VLD didn’t reference the SDF-1′s pinpoint barrier system for Atlas. 

Also, that “super long range cannon/gun blast that can hit an orbital target from Earth’s surface” reminds me of GN-002 Gundam Dynames’ Super Substratospheric Altitude Gun.
