I think one of the reasons why the dragon prince’s marketing is so damn good is because the person running the account seems to genuinely love and care about the show. Seriously the way they speak about the characters and world shows that they’re very passionate about the project and it’s paying off.
Because I’ve been seeing sentiments lately about “this gif maker/artist/meta writer blocked me for my comment lmao what a petty dumb bitch it wasn’t even negative” I feel like ranting about this. I’ve been making gifs for months now and meta for years and it’s exhausting and draining to see negative comments on scenes you giffed, or negative sentiments that you might not precieve as negative yourself but it is to us due to previous comments. Blocking is not petty, it’s a right and self care.
You’re not entitled to be heard or seen in our reblogs. I sometimes block people just cuz I hate seeing their comments on my stuff. I delete stuff like “still hate this character/scene” and block people in the tags being unhinged and misogynistic or whatever. Stop feeling entitled for the time and energy of those who put out things for joy and then be met with reactions they don’t want to see. I’ll block if I don’t want more people to reblog with a certain comment or copy-pasted tag. I’ll block if someone is projecting too hard on fun meta. I’ll block if I want the gif to be mere aesthetic look not an open discussion. For the love of god, the only pettiness is refusing to sympathize. Don’t act like a victim cuz someone doesn’t want to be drained.
I’ve been lurking the tag for a while now and so far I haven’t seen anyone bring up the idea that this could be the dragon queen. The panel implied the dragon queen is vital and I think this might be her and they want to return the egg to its mother.
Okay but did you see how gentle Zethrid was with Ezor?? That woman who loves destruction and is brutal practically all the time but when she sees that Ezor is distressed she’s protective and speaks calmly?? Oh man, oh no, my poor heart, this scene was so cute, I cannot deal!!
Cleaning out my drive and I found this unpolished gem~!
Blending Altea
There are currently several versions of Altea in this story and none provide a clear picture of the total culture. Currently we have-
Alfor and Honerva’s Altea – This is the version of Altea which knew times of war and was freshly immersed in an unprecedented era of peace, trading off-world and working alongside other planets for the betterment of all. Their Altea was a hub of innovation and actively worked to spread peace and prosperity to other worlds, most notably the Galra Empire where Honerva sparked a technological revolution and advanced science by eons.
Allura’s Altea – As seen with the alternate-reality!Alteans and with Lotor, Allura has a tendency to reject any version or parts of Altea which do not fit with what she loves about her people. When she speaks of her home planet it is positive and hopeful. She speaks of their successes rather than their shortcomings which creates an idealistic (read: unattainable) picture but is critical when focusing on the bigger picture as she must.
Lotor’s Altea – This is the version of Altea read about in history books, on cave walls and in carvings, handed down through word of mouth. Lotor’s version of Altea focuses on preserving the culture and history and is best suited for a museum than anything else.
The Survivors’ Altea – The Colony. When Romelle speaks of the colony’s inception it is as someone who was not there to experience it first hand. She, along with most if not all currently from the colony, is generations removed from the desolation of the planet Altea. This version of their culture is one that has recovered and moved forward, a modern day Altea. But does not have a clear picture of where they have been.
And this is why Romelle is an important character.
We have been following Altea’s story from two leaders, Allura and Lotor. Neither of whom are fully immersed in modern Altea. Lotor was viewed as a savior, someone removed who made visits to the Altean colony rather than living their with the people. And Allura grew up in a version of Altea that doesn’t exist anymore but in her memories.
The Survivors’ Altea, Romelle’s Altea is where the people are currently. Romelle knows how they think, where they come from, where they’ve been, and knows the potential for where they could go next.
Each of these versions of Altea are important because they were instrumental in shaping its people, but the Survivors’ version is what has lasted and thrives. With Romelle’s help, Allura will be able to meet her people where they are currently and help bring them into the future.
