clockworkspider:

As a sinner I really want to see AU Empress Allura x hostage Lotor.

And like… they play mind-games as Lotor try to influence Allura and the Empire with limited freedom.

Edit: OKAY I ACTUALLY HAVE PLOT FOR THIS. REALLY BAD PLOT

So Empress Allura killed Zarkon and Haggar and presented Galra empire with an ultimatum, surrender or die.

Despite how much she hates the Galra empire, in this AU Allura does not want to commit genocide. Prince Lotor, being half Altean, would be a perfect puppet regent to put on the throne. Galrans have a strong class system, all the more reason that they needed an aristocratic symbol.

Lotor did not want his people to die fighting either, so he accepted the offer and bent the knee to Allura.

To cement the truce, Lotor was to marry Allura. In name only would they be equals, and their marriage would be a symbol of peace between Altea and Galra. In reality, this gave the Allura more of a reason to keep Lotor under close watch

In public, they act the part of a loving couple, with Lotor being charismatic and Allura being powerful. In private, they don’t really touch or talk to each other. Lotor is confined to his quarters and is kept from making any political decisions or interacting with members of the Galra empire without Altean supervision.

Lotor convinces Allura that he can be consulted in matters concerning Galra, because he knows better. Allura agrees and asks him about stuff, but only on consulting basis. She would get second opinions from her council.

Lotor realized the only way to do anything would be to gain the trust of Allura. So he gets on that and attempts to gain control through influencing Allura. They get friendlier.

cw: isolation, abusive relationship below

Eventually, Allura realized she’s being manipulated into making certain decisions. She stops talking to Lotor. Lotor’s freedom is further limited and no one is to interact with him unless they’re in public. Allura becomes Lotor’s only source of human (alien) interaction. Lotor is further reminded that Allura is all he has and tries harder to win her back. At some point, he’s no longer sure whether he wants control or just want her attention again.

From the time Allura spent with Lotor, she learned a lot about him. She learned that he’s manipulative and ambitious, but also that he’s diplomatic and capable of kindness. She doesn’t trust him but she doesn’t want to see him depressed. Eventually, she warms up to him again. Now she finds that Lotor have given up on plotting and she began to trust him more, eventually allowing him to advise her and participate in council meetings.

And then something will probably remind Lotor of his ambition and everything ends badly.

There has been theories floating around that suggests that the masked rebel is an Altean (it seems like you’ve noticed it too) Do you think she’s only one or could there be more within the rebel group? Do you see her hanging out with Team Voltron longer because it’s speculated that she might be the Polluxian princess (Allura’s cousin) that fans of the original really want to see.

I mean, it’d raise a lot of questions on where she came from, and if the rebels are even aware. If she is Romelle, a friend of mine had a really good point that Matt’s reaction to Allura would tell us he doesn’t know what Romelle looks like.

Because Matt would have a big reaction if a stranger turned up who looks almost like someone he knew, and one of the things about Romelle is she and Allura are seemingly near identical- the main difference in the past was Romelle’s braided ponytail.

And if this is Romelle, and thus, polluxian…

…Then how did she end up a rebel fighter if seemingly her ancestors were grouped in with Zarkon’s populace, especially if we consider it’s pretty likely that they became druids?

Though, it’s /also/ interesting, now that I’m making that jump, how much our masked rebel resembles a druid to a degree- the mask with the voice filter, the uncannily untroubled demeanor considering mid-firefight she has the approximate tone of a librarian suggesting a book on the life cycle of slugs and this is contrasted directly with Matt and Olia who are both practically yelling their lines.

superheroladies:

If all the implied stuff about Lotor being more leaning towards getting along more with Pidge and Allura this lowkey confirms my HC that Lotor is uncomfortable around men. Even when yelling at mommy he’s more comfortable showing his emotions in front of her and I won’t be surprised if daddy and the high ranking male commanders are the reason for that.
